Licensed Marriange And Family Therapist

Honesty, Trust, and Communication.  Those values are what make relationships work and those are the values I follow within my own marriage of 20 years.  I am married to a retired Marine Wounded Warrior and have supported him in the capacity of advocate and caregiver. I strive to create a relaxed atmosphere and is very straightforward in communication with a little bit of sarcasm mixed in. I like to use mindfulness exercises to reduce stress and promote relaxation while also focusing on the family as one system. I believe communication is key to any successful marriage and work with couples to enhance their ability to communicate effectively. Relationships are like puzzles, and I love doing puzzles!  A puzzle requires all the pieces to fit as one like one family system.

Becoming a therapist is the greatest privilege of my life.  It is what I am meant to do, and I love sharing that with my clients.  It gives me a great feeling whenever I know I am making a difference with my clients.  My goal is to help military families cope with the stressors of combat and caregiving in a way that will help their marriages excel.  I have worked as a Family Readiness volunteer with multiple Marine Corps units and worked with National Guard units in Family Readiness. My passion is helping caregivers and spouses with coping skills when dealing with combat PTSD, Secondary PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, deployment reintegration, and other stressors they may face due to living a military lifestyle.

I believe in helping others so they can pay it forward to others that are experiencing the same situations.  I lived in the Fisher House while my husband received treatment for combat PTSD and was provided caregiver support through Semper Fi Fund. I have lived the active-duty military life, experienced three combat deployments with my husband, and was his caregiver for many years. I am here to help and empower military families!

Whether I am working with individuals, couples, or families, I ensure my clients are able to walk away from therapy feeling empowered and with a feeling of accomplishment!
